We need to talk about Brogues.
At Stilettissimo, we have launched two very special models in this style.

What is a Brogue?

A Brogue is a style of footwear with decorative perforations and stitching along the edges of the shoe. Very often, this «broguing» goes along with two contrasting colours used on the shoe.

The original Brogue originates in Scotland and Ireland and was typed as a country and outdoor shoe. However, it has long since evolved into the luxury segment.

The career of the Brogue

While Brogues were predominantly male until the 1920s, they gradually entered the women’s world during the «Roaring 20s», when women began to wear more practical styles, and even trousers.

Brogues are stable and practical, which is why after WW2, they became a staple in women’s wardrobe.

For a while, Brogues were less prominent in women’s footwear but they never completely disappeared.

VERVE

THE ULTRA CLASSIC ANKLE BOOT

Black and white brogue shoes are regal. The style was popularized by the Prince of Wales in 1930 when he appeared in a pair of Brogues on the golf course.

Brogues became fashionable for women as early as the 1920s and have never gone out of style since.

At Stilettissimo, we adore the Brogue style.

In fact, we are so fond of it that it is not only part of our «Black & White» collection, but we even made a sneaker in this style.
