When we speak about starting your personal shoe collection, we do not mean just a bunch of shoes but a curated selection that reflects the facets of your personality, represents who you are, and in which every model is comfortable and a staple in your wardrobe.
When you have the right footwear, you do not need 50 pairs — of course, you can if you want.
Start with only 3 Pairs
With our strategy, only three pairs of shoes give you a great start.
In our previous article we spoke about the joy of building your own collection and suggested starting with a statement piece and building around it.
While a statement shoe is nice to have, there are three types of shoes you need.
Before you begin, check your wardrobe and find your favourite pieces. This will help you to find the colours you want your shoes to feature.
The Go-To-Shoe
The classic shoe is a model you can wear for any occasion and return to when in doubt. Needless to say, this one needs to be perfect for you and your style. It is like the ‘shoe version’ of the famous little black dress.
Very often, it is a classic pump. However, if you prefer block heels or loafers, go for this type of shoe. Remember, it is all about you.
As for the colour, it depends on where you live. While in many European countries it rains quite often, we recommend black, brown, navy blue or beige.
Maybe you live in a place where summer reigns all year round. In this case you might consider white, light beige or nude as your standard.
Did you know that we have models where you can select the heel height? Please check them out here.
The Shoe for All Adventures
As we assume that you are NOT related to Indiana Jones, our adventure shoes are meant for an extended shopping trip, holidays, a weekend away or just an art exhibition.
In this case, we recommend loafers, sneakers, pumps and sandals with block heels and adjustable straps for comfort and safety.
You can really choose bold colours here if you like them, and you might be surprised how easily many of them can be combined.
A Little Glamour
Glamour can be an extravagant statement piece but also a shoe with a stylish accessory or a striking colour. All that matters is that you love the shoe. That it really reflects your taste and your style.
This model’s job is to take you to any party and candle light dinner, making you look and feel your best.
For these occasions it is absolutely permissible to combine a winter coat with a pair of sandals.
You Want to Make Your Collection Last
There are two prerequisites that enable you to build your own collection.
- You must buy shoes of the highest quality, hand-crafted by great artisans, crafted from the best materials on the market
- Find a qualified shoe maker. Soles and heels wear out and need replacement from time to time. A great shoe is worth it and therefore sustainable.
Keep Building
Now you have a great start to build on. When you want to indulge or reward yourself, you can invest in your collection which ultimately is an investment in yourself.
